About The Experienced Wanderer
Hi I'm Leta!
I have an innate passion for travel and adventure.
As a teen, I always had a suitcase packed and ready to travel at any moment. My first opportunity came when a friend invited me to go to the Cayman Islands with her. I was only eighteen. We traipsed off to Grand Cayman and that was when I discovered my love of travel. Since then, I’ve been to many countries some of which are Italy, France, Mexico, Cuba and Jamaica. I’ve taken road trips several times between Western Canada and Eastern Canada; as well as the United States of America. As well, I lived and worked in Tokyo, Japan for several years.
When I’m not travelling, I’m an award-winning educator. I teach English as a Second Language to adult professionals who want to make their home in North America. My students are from all around the world and I love to learn about their countries, their cultures and foods.
The best part of travelling for me is just “wandering”. Everywhere I travel, people come up to me and ask for directions because I immerse myself in the culture, soak up the atmosphere, wander around and talk to the locals. I gather that makes me look as if I belong there. When I lived in Japan, several cute little Japanese children on my street would run out and start to talk to me in Japanese. This always delighted but astonished me because, as a culture, the Japanese are said to be very reserved.
So, whether it is eating sushi in Tokyo, taking an evening stroll in Italy to get gelato, sampling French pastry in Paris, sitting on the dock in Cannes watching the yachts sail by, or rocking to Reggae music and eating jerk chicken in Jamaica, I will share my stories.
I have a long list of other countries to visit! So I hope you will join me on my journey and be inspired to go on your own journey.
I look forward to our journey together!
Thanks for stopping by!
